JSW Motors’ Chery iCar V23-Based Electric SUV Spied Again in India: Design, Battery Packs, Range and Expected Features

JSW Motors appears to be moving closer to its independent market debut in India. The company, which has partnered with Chinese automaker Chery, has once again been seen testing a new SUV based on the Chery iCar V23 on Indian roads.

The latest spy images do not reveal the full styling because the test vehicle remains heavily camouflaged. Even so, a few important design elements are visible. The SUV seems to carry an upright, boxy silhouette, giving it a rugged and modern road presence. It also appears to feature side steps, flared wheel arches, horizontal taillamps, and a box-shaped rear storage section that is likely meant for the charging cable.

These details suggest that JSW Motors may be aiming for a practical electric SUV with a strong lifestyle appeal. The design language looks bold and functional, which could help it stand out in India’s increasingly competitive EV segment.

Although the Jetour T2 is widely expected to be JSW Motors’ first product in India, the company has already teased the iCar V23 officially. That has added to speculation that the Chery iCar V23-based SUV could arrive sooner than expected. At the moment, however, JSW Motors has not announced an official launch timeline.

In terms of specifications, the Chery iCar V23 is sold as a fully electric SUV with more than one battery configuration. The lower variants are reportedly available with either a 47 kWh or a 60 kWh battery pack. These versions use a rear-wheel-drive setup and produce 135 hp along with 180 Nm of torque.

Higher-spec variants are expected to come with a larger 81.7 kWh battery pack and an all-wheel-drive system. These versions can deliver up to 212 hp and 292 Nm of torque, while the claimed range goes up to 501 kilometres.

If JSW Motors brings this model to India with competitive pricing and localized features, it could emerge as an interesting option for buyers looking for a rugged electric SUV with strong range and performance figures.

JSW Motors’ Chery iCar V23-based SUV is continuing its test runs in India, and the model is already generating interest for its boxy styling, EV-focused platform, and multiple battery choices. While the launch timeline remains unclear, the SUV could become an important part of JSW Motors’ entry into the Indian electric vehicle space.
